Research Databases

These databases are full text electronic journals and other resources to aid in research. They are available to staff and students both on campus and remotely (with a password). They are password protected due to licensing issues and are not available to the general public. One additional feature is the excellent “HELP” features for each of the databases.

BadgerLink

BadgerLink is a project of the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. It provides free access to quality online information resources for Wisconsin residents. Users can find access to over 11,000 periodical titles and over 700 newspapers (including Wisconsin newspapers), children’s and adult literature, business, medical, and education sources, and many other specialized resources not available through regular internet search engines. "BadgerLink" does not require a login but is accessible from Wisconsin IP addresses ONLY.

CINAHL  (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature)

CINAHL Plus with Full Text provides authoritative coverage for over 3000 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health. It provides full text for more than 560 journals covering nursing, biomedicine, health sciences librarianship, alternative/complementary medicine, consumer health and 17 allied health disciplines.  In addition, this database offers access to health care books, nursing dissertations, selected conference proceedings, standards of practice, educational software, audiovisuals and book chapters, as well as an Evidence-Based Care Sheet and patient education information.  Covers 1937-present.

Credo Reference

Credo Reference enables users to find authoritative answers fast. It features content from hundreds of reference books in a broad range of subjects. Titles come from a long list of subjects: Art; Bilinguals; Biography; Business; Dictionaries; Encyclopedias; Food; Geography; History; Language; Law; Literature; Medicine; Music; Philosophy & Psychology; Quotations; Religion; Science; Social Sciences; and Technology. Electronic Journals

This database is used to find the names of those electronic journal/magazines to which WITC staff and students have access. The A-to-Z list also indicates lists of research databases that access a particular journal. It is linked to all WITC resources.

Facts on File

World News Digest: U.S. and World News 1940-Present:
This database has retrospective articles on many subjects. It is easy to search and comes with helpful instructions. Facts On File World News Digest @ FACTS.com brings together complete content from the Facts On File World News Digest and a live newsfeed from Reuters® to answer questions about events, people, issues, facts, and figures from 1940 to the present. It also delivers maps, photographs, historic documents, and special overviews of key issues, newsmakers, and events since 1940. Also included are Issues & Controversies, Today’s Science, the World Almanac Reference database (the world’s most rusted reference source), and the World Almanac Encyclopedia, with Tools for Students and Tools for Educators.

Human Resources Law Cases

HR Law Cases is a database of 500 U.S. Supreme Court and Federal Court decisions edited for use by students and faculty. Topics covered include: Age Discrimination, Americans With Disabilities, Employee Benefits, Family and Medical Leave, Hiring, Independent Contractors, Labor Relations, Privacy, Race Discrimination, Religious Beliefs, Sex Discrimination, Whistleblowing, and Wrongful Discharge.

INFOTRAC

This database includes the General Business File ASAP, Opposing Viewpoints, and Health and Wellness Resource Center which has full text journal articles, videos, and other reliable medical reference information.

ProQuest Newspapers

This database accesses 685 full text state, national and international newspapers.

ProQuest Ethnic NewsWatch

Ethnic NewsWatch is a database containing full text and article abstracts from ethnic newspapers, magazines, and journals.

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source

ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source™ provides users with reliable healthcare information covering nursing, allied health, alternative and complementary medicine, and much more. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source provides abstracting and indexing for more than 700 titles, with over 580 titles in full-text.

The No. 1 source of information on businesses and people for researchers, students and job seekers.

STAT*USA Internet

This database is a service of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and is a single point of access to authoritative business, trade, and economic information from across the Federal Government. It includes both foreign and domestic information.

Wilson Web Applied Science Index

Science Full Text Select Edition is a 100% full-text database providing full text articles, with their accompanying indexing and abstracts, of a core selection of science periodicals from the following Wilson periodical databases: Applied Science & Technology Full Text; Biological & Agricultural Index; and General Science Full Text. Additional relevant journals selected from other Wilson periodical databases are also included.
